Hello everyone!
I found this forum, but I don't know german language, so I hope some of you know english and you will help me.
I'm proud owner of 12M 1.3 '69, 2-doors. Some guy offered me his rusted 12M '67 for spare parts. His 12M has different cockpit, so I figured out it's "1st version" 12M P6. So I'm interested if anyone knows what are differences between 1st and 2nd version. Thanks!

Hello Stefan.

Thanks for your registration at the Ford P6 Forum and welcome to the "Ford P6 Owners Club"

The 12m P6 has been built even in 3 versions:

- 1st version from 09/66 - 08/67
- 2nd version from 09/67 - 08/68
- 3rd version from 09/68 - 08/70

So actually you should have a 3rd version car.

Depending on the month the other guy's car has been built in 1967 it either is a 1st or a 2nd version model.

1st and 2nd model versions show a few differences:

the 1st version's dash board colour is the same than the car's outside colour - the 2nd version's colour is simply black.

Both cars have a horizontal speed indicator and regular a steering gear shift.

The 1st version has 3 switches for light and wipers etc. left from the speed indicator - the 2nd version has 2 switches left from the speed indicator and one single switch below.

Both steering wheels are quite large. The 1st version one's has a unpadded center - the 2nd version's steering wheel has a small bolster in the center.

The 1st version regular has a 6 Volt electrical system - the 2nd version a 12 Volt one.

Hi Stefan ,

which country are you from ?
If you are from the UK ,it´s perhaps possible for you to upload a foto of your car to this site ,because most of us (me included) have never seen a "living" RHD-P6 .
And if you aren´t :a picture (as well of an LHD)is always interesting and helpful .

So long , Jörg

Hi Stefan,
welcome to our little "worldwide" community.
some other differences between 1st and 2nd series: almost all parts of the rear brakes and some details of the cooling system (tubes and cooling fluid tank (translatet by google ))

Yes, his 12M is the 1st version.
I found on the Net a few months ago a detailed list of all major and minor tech. differences between all versions, but I couldn't find that site know. Maybe somebody knows?

PS. I'm from Serbia, and whats "LHD" and "RHD"?
Greetings from Stefan.

"LHD" simply means Left Hand Drive = the steering wheel is on the car's left side (driving direction)

"RHD" simply means Right Hand Drive = the steering wheel is on the car's right side (driving direction) - often found in the so called "Commonwealth Nations" like United Kingdom or Australia etc.

Except carburetor, what are differences between open and closed deck? Is the 1st series cooling system low presure, and 3rd series no pressure or what?

Hi Stefan,
both have pressure cooling systems. The open-deck-engine is - similar to its name - open to the cylinder head ,the closed deck has only small holes for the cooling fluid. The spark plugs are longer at the closed deck engine!!!, and the block is more resistant to vibration.
